ENABLING PUBLIC HEALTH SUPPLY CHAIN TRANSFORMATION IN MOZAMBIQUE SINCE 2017

LEADING EXAMPLES OF ARC’S WORK AND OUTCOMES IN MOZAMBIQUE

INVOLVEMENT AS A MEMBER OF THE PSISC PARTNERSHIP

ARC is supporting the Central de Medicamentos e Artigos Médicos (CMAM) to sustainably manage the public pharmaceutical supply chain, including overseeing third- and fourth-party logistics delivery of essential medicines to 30 million people. ARC helped CMAM budget appropriately for its envisaged responsibility for nationwide last mile distribution. The output of the study was a 10-year investment plan indicating costs in various categories that match donor funding guidelines. ARC supported the work by forging a collaborative approach between multiple stakeholders, drawing alongside the CMAM to bring new approaches and applying learning from other countries.

PLACEMENT OF AN ENABLER IN THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH

ARC staffed an Enabler responsible for onboarding a new leadership team at CMAM. The Enabler supports the leadership team to push through changes to CMAM’s mandate that have been planned but not fully executed since 2013. The Enabler is able to support CMAM to maintain momentum on a range of supply chain projects and reduce risk on donor investments.
