Providing reliable access to quality and affordable medicines and health products to communities continues to be a challenge for ministries of health in Francophone West Africa. In other instances, donor-funded public health interventions face sustainability challenges due to structural readiness.

The Mozambiquan Ministry of Health (MISAU) and its partners developed a Strategic Plan for Pharmaceutical Logistics (PELF) to address supply chain challenges

The Ministry of Health (MoH) worked with its development partners, including ARC, Africa’s Public Health Supply Chain Institution, to create an informed push model to facilitate the effective delivery of medicines to the last mile to increase availability of medicines.

ARC developed this position paper on supply chain sustainability to contribute to knowledge and thought leadership. This paper describes five technical innovations ARC believes can sustain the availability of health products. ARC also makes recommendations for country ownership and governance.

In this position paper, ARC proposes five technical initiatives that can contribute to sustainable supply chains in public health delivery. It also makes recommendations for country ownership and governance to create an enabling environment for governments to adopt them, potentially with private sector assistance.

Creating a space where government and the private sector could regularly interact to improve communication and understanding to facilitate effective, collaborative public-private partnerships across the public health supply chain.​

ARC and J&J collaborated to support the costing and implementation plan activities to inform the annual and multi-year operational budgets for Kenya’s health products and technologies supply chain.

Based on the assessment and building on its expertise in supply chain, arc is supporting the ministry of health through developing a strategic advisory project to strengthen the public health supply chain and allow yeksi naa to be relaunched.

ARC was invited to contribute to reimagining aspects of the healthcare supply chain in Mozambique to support the Mozambican government in its work to improve the availability of medicines.
